TANTRA - A DIVINE SCIENCE

Among Tantra upaasaks,there are many sadhana practices like chita,shav,shmashaan,shakti or shyama sadhana and pancha makaar.Such special sadhanas require right place and time.Tantra calls such sadhana places as Peeth.Those peeths are dev peeth,chatush peeth,shmashaan peeth and shyama peeth.Yantra ,Mantra, Mandal are important in it.Triangle plays a very important role in tantra.When it is upward pointed it indicates Shiva,while combination with downward pointed triangle indicates ardha nareeshwar or shiva shakti.

In ancient times,indian map was divided in a triangular way.Important triangular nodes in this division were 

• Ashva kraanta
• Ratha kraanta 
• Vishnu kraanta

Vindhyachal till chatt-gaon area are called vishnu kraanta

Vindhyachal till tibet area are called ratha kraanta

South india ,Java island etc are called ashva kraanta

Three places of importance were Kanchi, Kamakhya and Kashmir. 64 tantras were practised in these places.Important women siddhas of these places are discussed even today in the context of 64 yoginis. 64 shakti peeths in India also reminds us about the 64 divine Shaktis. Kerala tantra, Bengal tantra and Kashmir tantra are most famous in India.
