Let us try to understand what is meant by worship.There are three popular terms.
--- Reverence(Pooja), Sadhana and Worship(Upasana)
When we visit temples we see Pujari .He chants mantras ,offers flowers,sweets and fruits to the diety and then gives "prasad ".So this reverence to diety is called as POOJA
This is first step of invoking the diety in your life.Here please note that pooja is just doing reverence to god.This is like a daily routine
SADHANA is completely different from this puja
I have a desire which I want to fulfill in life.So he does sadhana which is aimed at achieving that goal
So here there is the Sadhak and then there is the concerned diety.He chants mantras and follow certain procedures to achieve this desired aim.So this is the path of Sadhana
Next and final level is Worship or UPASANA .Here the worshipper and God becomes one.This is the highest level,where there is no difference between the two.There is no presence of the second personality in the case of worship.Upasana is possible through the process of Dhyaan

I have read in Gurudev's book where a sadhak did Atma Aavahan of Guru Vishwamitra and learned sadhana from him.Similarly you can do with Guru Gorakhnath as well.Aatma aavahan procedure is given in my blog

Bhaiya maine aapse pahle bhi baat ki h main Vashu Kumar hu. Bhaiya ek problem aur h jise main last 3 years se face kar raha hu main government naukri ki prepration kar raha hu lekin kuch nahi ho para. Kayi baar exam clear bhi hue to final merit me nikal gya. Guruji ke pass gya to unhone 10 hajar ka kam bata diya bhaiya main student hu aur itne rupees lane bahut muskil h abhi. Aap hi guide kariye kya karu. Koi anusthan or sadhana se ye problem dur ho sakti hai kya. Bhaiya ab to books ko padne ka bhi man nahi karta aur dar bhi lagta h. Bhaiya aal mujhe bataye ki iske liye koi sadhana ki jarurat h ya anusthan ki. Vaise padit ji ko bhi dikhaya tha ve to bol rahe the ki kam pakka ho jayega February me hua bhi interview bhi diya lekin phir number nahi aaya kuch corruption bhi h up me.
